summer learning journey

Today my class Whenua did the summer learning journey and one of the activities was to make your own comic but you already had the photos there. All you had to do for the comic activity was chose what he was saying. I didn't like doing the first activity because you had to go from slide to slide.

Tuesday 8 December 2020

Gingerbread Man Comic

For this week Whenua has been doing comics. I choose the book named The gingerbread Man from the library. I randomly chose my book from the shelf because it was hard choosing what book. Now that I have posted this I get to go and make my own comic about anything. I liked doing this because it doesn't take long and once you have done one you get to make your own comic about anything. The hardest part about doing this was getting it all together.

Animal Town

This week we have been doing pobbles. The date for this pobble was April the 1st. This was fun to do by coming up with your own ideas in the story. One thing that was hard was coming up with the start of the story and when someone would talk to you and then you can't get that idea you had back.

Snowman writing

Today when the year sevens left we did a pobble about snowman. First I did the snowman then the writing. I liked doing the snowman because it's your own thing now copying. I didn't like thinking about what to write because it took half the time that was boring.

Quiz Activity

Today we did a quiz in our house groups. My groups tied with 15/20, we tied with red and green. Blue got 14/20. We do these quizzes every week but mostly on a Friday. I like doing this because it's fun to do and also when you don't know the answer you can guess.

Friday 27 November 2020

Diwali

Today, when the year sevens went to tech the year sixes had to do research about Diwali and also create your own Rangoli pattern mine, didn't turn out how I wanted it. Miss Farr said that this is her favorite tradition, that's the reason we did it. I liked making my own Rangoli pattern because you got to choose how you did it and what colours. What I didn't like was getting the fact and writing it because it took about 20 minutes just doing that plus an extra 5 for the Rangoli pattern.

Task 5

Today I did task 5 for literacy. Harrison and I made this song because you had the choice to ever doing a painting, song or music. We thought it would be funny to make a song so we did. The best part of doing this was singing it because we had to do video after video. One time I would laugh and the next time Harrison. It took at least 5 times to do.

Monday 23 November 2020

task 3

Today I did task three for literacy. For literacy, we are doing stuff about Banksy. I really liked doing this because I found out facts about him. He is 48 and has a nickname called Grafitti master from how good he is.

Friday 20 November 2020

Task 2

In south London, a lot of graffiti and street art have been painted on buildings.

I think that the men that did the painting should have been arrested for not having permission but still doing it. But some have been arrested by the London art gallery and some buildings that they did were good and even the owner of the building said it looks good. I think that that they should have permission but they have to show the owner what it's going to look like.

League script

For the last three weeks, our class has been doing a script and this is my script. I really liked doing this because you get to chose a sport that you like to play. Half of the boys choose a tackle game. What I didn't like was that you had to redo the writing on your book if it wasn't good. I failed once and then passed.

Monday 16 November 2020

Adding with different denominates

Today for maths we had to make a video about how to add with different denominates. I sat outside with Harrison because his Chromebook would keep lagging out. I didn't really like doing this because it took a long time to set up and what I was going to write.

Thursday 12 November 2020

Task one of paint in the city

Today my class did literacy, this was a really easy task. I found all the questions easy except number two, number two was the hardest because you had to go to page eleven and try to think about what it's trying to tell us. The easiest was the number four "would this work make people happy" and said yes if I was doing it.

Friday 6 November 2020

Capture the flag rules

For the last week when the year 7s went to tech. We got to choose groups and my group was Harrison, Taj, Quaid, and I. I really liked doing this because you got to go out play before we did this, we went outside so we could understand the game. What I didn't really like about doing this was getting the videos on to the slide.

Thursday 5 November 2020

Coral Reef

Today we did a quiz and one of the answers has something to do with the coral reef, so we had to research about the Coral Reef. Doing this took a long time because you had to go from tab to tab. One fact I didn't know about Coral Reefs was that there are three different types.

How to play rugby league

NRL Rugby league

NRL was invented in December 1997 in Australia.

Rugby league takes 80 minutes to play for the whole game but it's played in 40-minute halves. When you play rugby league there should be 13 on the field. The positions are number 1 fullback, number 2 right-wing, number 3 right center, number 4 left center, number 5 left wing, number 6 five-eighth, number 7 half-back, number 8 left prop, number 9 hooker [my position], number 10 right prop, number 11 second row, number 12 second row and lastly number 13 lock forward.

The equipment is
1. One league ball
2. A pair of football boots
3. mouthguard
4. Headgear [if you want]

Rules of the game
At the start of the game, you kick at halfway or when a point is scored. When you pass the ball it needs to go backward, if it goes forward it will be a hand over for a forward pass. You can pass the ball as much as you want until you or someone in your team gets tackled. You need to tackle below the shoulders, if you tackle higher than the shoulders it's will be a penalty. From a penalty, you could ever kick it out on the full, take the tap and run or go for a kick-off a tee. There are six tackles on last if you get tackled on the sixth run it's a handover. you can kick the ball whenever you want to kick but it's better when you kick on last. When you get tackled you have to play the ball, play the ball is where you stand up place the ball on the ground, and roll it back with your foot to the hooker. The hooker should stand behind you when you get tackled. The hooker will pick the ball up and pass it to the five eight and he will pass again to the runner. If your team is on defense once someone has made a tackle you have to go back 10 meters or you will be called offside and it would be a penalty. when your team kicks the ball you need to be behind the kicker to be onside, once he has kicked it you can chase it. Penalties can be awarded if there is a foot trip, high tackle, or if you are offside. If you get tackled in your own goal it's a drop out to the other team. If you get held up before you put the ball down to score you go back five meters.

Aim of the game and how the scoring works

A try is worth four points, a conversion is worth two points conversion is when someone scores a try they kick over the post if they miss they still get the ball off the kick-off at halfway. There is a drop goal for one point and you get the ball again from the kickoff. The aim of the game is to get the most points.

DLO

Today we got to chose if we did relating to others, participating and contributing, or managing myself and I chose managing myself. I didn't really like doing this because it was hard thinking of ideas. The best part of this was getting to get the photos because you didn't have to write.

Thursday 22 October 2020

task 3 literacy

Today my class had to do this activity for literacy it was for sportsmanship. What I liked about it, I liked researching for the information. What I didn't about this was typing it all down because we had a test in the morning.

Tuesday 20 October 2020

Task 2 activity

  1. What did Novak Djokovic do to make him default from the US open?

  2. What rule did Djokovic break?

  3. Do you agree with Djokovic’s punishment? Why? Explain

  4. Watch the video in the article. Do you agree with what the man said? Explain

  5. Should professional sportsmen and women let their emotions get the best of them while playing? Explain

  1. Djokovic hit a line judge in the throat by accident with a tennis ball.

  2. Hitting a ball dangerously and recklessly into the woman’s throat which could have made her die from how hard he hit it.

  3. I agree that he had to default because if he hit it harder it could have killed her and he broke a rule. A couple of weeks before this happed he hit an advertiser so he got what he deserved.

  4. Yes because he told us that he did it a week before and that it’s not acceptable because he is influencing the world. And since he is getting paid 20 million dollars a year that he needs to respect what he’s getting

  5. Yes if it’s a happy emotion but if it’s an angry or sad emotion no because they will take it out on someone else and hurt them because they lost.

This week was the second week back from the holidays. We had to do stuff about sportsmanship and we did it about Djokovic because he hit a woman in the throat with a tennis ball. What I liked about doing this was that it's about sport and I like sport so it was fun. What I didn't like about this was that you had to go from one slide to the other.

Friday 16 October 2020

what makes a good sportsmanship

For this week my class and I have been doing stuff about what makes good sportsmanship. What I liked about doing this was coming up with ideas. What I didn't like about doing this was making the whole doc.

Tuesday 13 October 2020

book review on The wind singer

For the last couple of weeks, my teacher gave everyone a book and we had to do a review on it. What I didn't really like about this book was about all the punishments but it taught me a lot of stuff. One part about the book that I liked was at the start where it said Sagahog Pompaprune Saga Saga HOG because later in the book it said that he was screaming swear words across the room.

India research

For the last two weeks, I have been doing an inquiry which is about you chose a country and working on it and getting all the facts, time, population, and when it was discovered. I really liked doing this because you get to learn more about the place you chose. What I didn't really like was typing it all into one slide and then into another slide. I chose this country because I thought it would be interesting to do.

Friday 18 September 2020

Inquiry

Today when the year sevens left to go to tech the year six's did an inquiry which is about how people get forced to get moved to refugee camps that are overpopulated. Some of them lost eachover from going there because they get bombed. One family lost their parents and their seven-year-old sister. Some of them are staying at their houses for as long as they can. What I liked about doing this was researching and looking at photos of the place because I didn't know it was so bad. What I didn't like about doing this was that you had to write it all down because it took so long to write it all down.

Japanese writing

Japan is a small island nation with a large population. It’s well known for its bustling cities and its specific fashion crazes.

Location

The small island in the pacific ocean off mainland Asia. Made up of 6,900 islands which about the 11th largest population in the world. Tokyo was known as Edo a small castle town in the 16th century. Edo became Japan’s political center in 1603 when Tokugawa Ieyasu established his feudal government there.

Edo was renamed Tokyo. Japan is made up of 6,900 islands but not all of them have people living on them. Although Japan is small it has the 11th largest population in the world.

Japanese sports

Japan plays sports such as Sumo, Kendo, Judo, Yabusame, Aikido and Karate.

Japans population

The population of Japan on the 1st of September was 125,838,814 and the next day it was 125,813 so that means that one person died than was born.

Culture and tradition

Tokyo offers a seemingly unlimited choice of shopping. Tokyo also offers a number of attractive green spaces in the city center. Large parts of Tokyo were destroyed in the great Kanto earthquake in 1923 and also got destroyed it the air raids in 1945 22 years later. Early Japanese culture was influenced by China.

The Japanese Archipelago had been inhabited for at least 30,000 years. From the 6th to the 8th century it was one of the greatest exchanges between the Yamato court. About a hundred years or so years ago after the foundation of Kyoto, the court stooped its practice of sending emissaries to China. Edo was a small place with no people in it, but then a thew decades later Edo had grown into one of the most populated places in the world. There was, and still is a little fishing village in Edo that has been there for centuries.

Thursday 27 August 2020

The wind singer

What I liked about doing this was doing the front because you get to think about what is going to happen from the front of the book. What I didn't like about doing this was writing it all down and then needing to do a blog post about it.

Currents and Voltage

Today in my class we did stuff about currents and voltages with a little electricity set, we had three boxes of the kit. The teacher split us into groups of 7 and one group of 6. Current is the way that electrons move through the circuit to make the whole circuit work. The voltage is the force that makes the circuit work a low numbered voltage will not have that much power as high numbered voltage. The higher the number is the more power so say I had a high number like 10 volts it would have a lot of light. But id I had a low number like 1 it wouldn't have as much light as the 10 volts did. I found out my results by doing the work and writing it down. the predictions I made were for 0V was not going to work and it didn't work, with 3V it's going to have a bit of power in it, with 6V I though it was going to have a lot of power and it did.

My speech

Why sport is important

For the past two week we have been doing speeches and this is my speech about why sport is important. Hope you like it.

Hi, my name is Kohen and I’m going to tell you about why I think sport is important.

So to start off did you know that sport is important in your life? No, you probably didn’t and that’s why I am here to tell you why sport is important!

So to start off, I think sport is fun, well actually depending on what sport you play though.

I play a lot of different sports, like league, rugby, basketball, tennis, and hockey. These are team sports, and that why I like them but some people don’t like team sports, they would rather sports that are played by themselves for example, golf and biking.

In some sports, they can get a bit competitive like league and rugby. These sports are contact sport, where you have to tackle. If you get hurt sometimes you get angry and take it out of other people and hurt them but with other sports like tennis, you can’t go do anything to them because there is a net in the middle of the court.

Sports can help people in a lot of different ways. For example, reaching your fitness goals. Sport can also help, as people like to play it for socializing with their friends and teammates.

think sport is good for your body even just one sport is good because it helps your muscles and it wakes you up, and with children, it helps you out for healthy life for when you older.

When you play sport you learn many skills like working together in a team, ball skills, and how to be a fair player. Like with some people they don’t like it when they lose, they just can’t take losing but when they lose they get upset but if they won they would probably brag that they won even though they don’t like it when it happens to them but there has to be a loser and a winner.

Sports are important because you need exercises like hockey you need to control the ball and get down low to control the ball more and with tennis, you need to hit the ball over a certain point and in a certain spot so you need muscles for tennis to hit a ball in a certain spot and certain hight.

Taking part in sports is not only important for fitness and staying healthy it can help with your growth but it hasn’t helped me but it does for everyone else but it still has worked for me though a little bit like a little little bit.

Playing a sport requires a lot of time and energy. Most sports require you to attend training as well.

There are also many benefits to playing sports. I am going to tell you some of the main benefits. The first being Better sleep. Another benefit is a strong heart. Your heart needs exercise to keep it fit and healthy,  so it can pump the blood through your body.

Sport can make you interact with people from other communities, cultures, and beliefs. Which can make you meet new friends that you may have not met otherwise. Your lungs also benefit from sport. It improves your lung function.

Sport can also help boost your confidence. When you play sport it also helps clear your mind of any worries you may have, as you are so focused on your sport you forget about everything else.

Children who play sports develop stronger bones and muscles, leading to a smaller chance of injury.

I hope i have given you a lot of useful information on why sport is important for you and your body. And remember winter sport is nearly over, so why not sign up to one of the summer sports offered here and I bet you won’t regret it.

Is our creek healthy?

For this week our class went down to the creek just down the road from school to see if our creek is healthy. What I liked about doing this was going in the creek. What I didn't like about doing this was running back to get the oranges and the gumboots hitting my legs and making mine sore.

show don't tell

Today for literacy medals we did show don't tell. I had to show how it happened not to tell how it happened. What I liked about this was that you had to think really hard to come up with ideas.
What I didn't like about it was that there were only 4 tells.

Water worries

Water worries

Water worries is like wasting water and running out of water. Because there is only limited water over the world.

People might need to line up to get water and wait for a couple of hours because of a
Earthquakes just to get a bucket of water that will be gone in one day.

There can be an earthquake or it might have not rained in a long time and they need it to
rain so they can get water. If they don’t have enough water they might have to move somewhere
else because they might run out of water.

Groundwater is another important source even though we don’t want to drink off the ground
because it would be gross. We are still using water that existed over a million years ago from
rivers, streams, lakes, and off the roof.

Water cycle.
The sun drives the water cycle and heats water in the ocean and rivers and lakes.
Some of the water rises into the air and becomes the water droplets in clouds.
Eventually, colder temperatures force the clouds to lose their moisture as rain, hail, or snow.
Some of this flows into rivers and lakes and then finally the ocean.
Some of it stays frozen as snow or ice for hundreds or thousands of years.
The rest of the water soaks deep into the earth where it becomes part of the groundwater
supply, some of which come to the surface through springs.

Some countries that already have serious water problems are trying new ways to
guarantee supply. In Saudi Arabia, a very dry place with a population of 29 million people.

Today I had to do a google doc about water worries and write all the stuff about water worries. What I liked about doing this activity was writing the facts down. What I didn't like about doing this was sitting for a long time.

Once upon a time there was a dinosaur that was in the forest and there was a big river and he couldn't get past the big river.  So he sang a song can't go under it can't go around  it we’ll have to go through it but the river was too strong. So he went to find something to get over so he got a log but it got swept away. So he swam down the river to get it but the river was too quick so he gave up. And started to head back to his campsite and since the river had two ways he had no idea where to go. So he went left and he got swept right to the end of the river because he jumped in but his campsite was around the middle somewhere. But he had to cross the river and he no’s that he couldn't cross the river then and now it is high tide and it had already gone up one meter so he had to camp for two whole days so head off to build a hut for 2 whole days. After two whole days the river had still not gone down so he was pretty sure the log was long gone after a couple days.So now he was wondering if he should go through the river but it could risk his life but if he didn't he would die by starvation but he still went for it. But sadly he drowned.

I ran to a ball and he ran to a ball and we got them a hopped on the trampoline and we had a game of pig but it’s only dunking. It came down to pi and pi and I went to do my trick and hurt myself so we couldn’t finish the game so we called it a tie. Once I was aright we went to the park and took Braye and played on the swing and we brang a ball with as to do kicks. Then Braye got bored and we went back home and went for a bike ride around the block and then it was tea time and ate it and had pudding. After pudding, we played hide and seek tag and Braye was in, Harrison and I hide behind the fence we played that for about 1 or 2 hours and then watched a movie and went to sleep.

Though the last few weeks Whenua has been writing about Turtles and because of Covid 19 school had to get closed and we had to do it at home and this is what I did.

Introduction, explain the life cycle of a turtle.

Turtles lay their eggs on the beach and the eggs hatch under the sand after about 6 weeks or 2 months in till they hatch.

Once the baby turtles hatch they all try to get to the water but they need to try and dodge all the predators as they can but some turtles aren't lucky because they get eaten and there only like two minutes old.

When they get the water they just about swim half the world and then swim back to where they were born when they're older to hatch more baby turtles and the adults leave and go somewhere in the world. When the baby turtles hatch they do the same thing like all the other turtles.

blog post about what i'm doing in isolation

In isolation so far I have been down to dad's work because dad brought a 1/4 midget witch is a speedway car. When dad showed Lakyn and I was excited and I asked dad if I could sit in the 1/4 midget and he said yes so I hopped in the top of it and the seat is really small so it was hard to get in the seat. The 1/4 midget isn't that tall because I'm taller than it.
After that, I went home and then Jack, Connor and Nana came down and picked Lakyn and I up and we went New world and Connor, Lakyn and I had to wait in the car and Jack and Nana went into New world and Jack and Nana were allowed to stay beside each over because they live together but they had to stay 1.5 meters away from everyone else. And they were only allowed, 5 people in the supermarket at a time. Once Jack and Nana were done at the supermarket we went to Nanas work and got some food and then went home.

part 2 of the dinoursor story

So going back to part one where he drowned but somehow he came back to life as a professional basketball player, his name was Kobe Bryant and he had to play a game against Stephen Curry and it was a one vs one. And at the start, it was completely silent. Kobe won from the toss and wanted to start with the ball as he picked up the ball he ran up to dunk and he dunked on Stephen curry and scored. The score is 1-0 to Kobe Stephen Curry gets the ball and goes straight for a fadeaway and sunk it so now the score is 1-1 and it's first to 5. Its kobes turn with the ball and then Stephen curry steals the ball and goes for a dunk and out of nowhere Kobe blocks him hard now Kobe has the ball and goes for a layup and gets the point [2-1] to Kobe, Curry gets the ball and waits for a bit and goes for a fake shot and then goes for a layup and missed Kobe then grabbed the ball and goes back to the line but Curry got sent to the sin bin and then someone else had to play for him but no one wanted to because they were versing Kobe and he’s the best. But there was someone new and he was bad and he said he would play so he went out on the court. The new dude got the ball and then Kobe stole the ball straight off him. So at this point Kobe has the ball and the new dude is on defense and he feels something going up to his neck and it bit him and he said to himself “that really strange” and he felt a lot stronger and better and from that bit that he got. He keeps stealing the ball of Kobe and he keeps doing the same thing that Stephen Curry because Stephen curry got sent off to the sin bin so he gave the new guy the same strength and it worked so he is as good as Stephen Curry. Kobe gets the ball and goes to the other end of the court and shoots and gets the win.

part 1 of the dinorusor story

After two whole days, the river had still not gone down so he was pretty sure the log was long gone after a couple days. So now he was wondering if he should go through the river but it could risk his life but if he didn't he would die by starvation but he still went for it. But sadly he drowned.

Tantalizing Transformations

This week in Whenua we had to do this slide show about Tantalizing Transformations so the teacher made the slide show and we and to go on our class site to see what we have to do for math or literacy medals and we get our slide show and copy it and do it. For the enlargement slide, I had to get my book, pencil and a ruler so I could do my work. What I did was wrote the ones it says to and then I wrote it double the size so if it was 5 centimeters I would of write 10 centimeters and I did that for all of the questions. With the lines of symmetry, all you had to do is fold them in half. With the order of symmetry, you had to flip the shape. With the reflection slide, you had to write a, b, c, d, e, and f and write the other side. With rotation, we had the square and we had to rotate it around the plus or whatever it is but the one with the square was the easiest because you don't need to rotate it but the other one is the hardest. And with transformations, you had to follow the steps so it was quite easy. By Kohen

Word of the week

Today in Whenua I did word of the week and the word of the week was vast and vast means large as in really big. So what I did was click on the box that says [my word] and write vast after that I clicked on the box the says [what I think my word means] and write what you think it means and I write fast because I didn't know what it meant. After that, I researched what the word means and write it down in the box that says [what my word means] and write vast and then I did that for the rest.

Today I did the number of the week and the number of the week was 632 number of the week is where you have a number and then you get questions of the number and have to work them out and on the second slide its write the number in words so I have to write it like six hundred thirty-two and that was what I write and in the next one it's called expanded form and its like 600+30+2=632 and then I would go to the next slide.

word of the week

Today I did the word of the week and the word of the week was Horizon and Horizon means the line at which the earth surface and the sky appear to meet up. At first, I write the word in the box that says My word and my word is horizon so I writ horizon and I had no idea what the word meant at first and then I researched what it meant and write it down and after that, I got a photo and put it on. Then researched what the synonyms where scope and prospect and the I researched antonyms and there were none and then after that, I had to write it in a sentence.
