summer learning journey week 1 day 5 activity 3

Today I'm doing the summer learning journey and I get to pick someone, and on my blog, I need to
  1. The name of the person
  2. A sentence about the work they do/have done
  3. A sentence about how they/their work has had an impact on the lives of others.

So the name of the person I chose is Micheal Jordan, I chose him because I really like basketball and he is a professional at basketball.

  1. Michael Jordan made less than $US100 million as the NBA’s greatest player of all time but is now a member of Forbes’ list of billionaires with an estimated net worth of $US1.9 billion.
  2. 2.He’s also the highest-paid athlete of all time.
  3. 3.Since Jordan retired in 2003, he has built the most successful and lucrative career we’ve ever seen from a former athlete.
  4. He’s been known as a highly competitive person, both on and off the court, and has faced his fair share of legal battles.
  5. From sprawling houses to custom planes and his own golf course, he’s clearly enjoying life after hoopsVisit Business Insider’s homepage for more stories.
I think that Micheal Jordan's life has impacted others because he was a famous NBA player and some people follow the NBA and then they sore him playing and said he's good and they got into the finals and scored a lot of goals because he is so good and then wanted to retire and retired.

summer learning journey week 1 day 5 activity 2

And if I was a girl I would change my name to Lotte, I fought of this name from Charlotte and took the Char off and then it was only Lotte.

summer learning journey week 1 day 4 activity 1

I watched the video on Venus Williams here are three things I learned on the video

1: By the age of ten she was able to hit the ball 100mph.

2: Venus won Wimbledon, the U.S Open and a gold medal in the Olympics in the year 2000.

3: She bet her sister in 2008 Wimbledon.

And one thing that I would still like to know is if she is still playing professional tennis.

summer learning journey week 1 day 3 activity 3

when I'm older I want my job to be a professional rugby league player like Shaun Johnson because he is one of the best and I really like Shaun Johnson. I fink I could achieve this dream because I have been in all the west coast teams that I have trailed for and I have trailed for 3 years but one year the other team pulled out. Plus I have got into 2 west coast touch teams, plus the ripper rugby team so I think that I could achieve this dream because of all these west coast teams that I have got into.

Today for the Summer learning journey I'm doing defying the odds this activity is about basketball players, the players that it said are LeBron James or Steven Adams the person that I'm going to pretend I'm interviewing is Steven Adams because he comes from Rotorua, New Zealand.

He plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder, he is 26 years old and his birthday is on the 20th of July 1993. If I was interviewing him the three questions that I would ask are.

1:  What his best shot is? for example (a three, a layup or a dunk)

2: What is the hardest team you have played?

3: Did you ever think you would be a professional basketball player for a career when you were a little boy?

The charity I chose was Ronald McDonald. I chose this charity because I have a close friend that is unwell and he lives in the Ronald McDonald House in Christchurch.

The Ronald McDonald charity raises money for sick children who need medical care. It also helps out their families at this time, with accommodation, food and fun activities.

The charity gets money from gerneral support in the community, businesses and also McDonald's restaurants also help fund this charity.

Staying at the Ronald McDonald house is expensive, it costs around $140 a night for a family.

Ronald McDonald was first played by Willard Scott in an ad in the Washington, D.C. market. The character magically pulled hamburgers out of his belt, while wearing a nose made out a McDonald's cup. His hat was a tray holding a Styrofoam burger, a bag of fries and a milkshake.

summer learning journey week 1

This week for the summer learning journey we are protecting that we are on a boat for three weeks and you have to bring ten foods items but they have to be something that doesn't go in the fridge.

1. I would have something that is fruit like apple, strawberries and pineapple.

2. I would bring a lot of water because you can't drink salt water because it makes you even thirstier so you would have to bring like eight big bottles.

3. I would bring some protein bars so I have energy so I'm not lying down with no energy.

4. I would bring some sometimes food so not all the time like chips or Lollies so I'm not always having everyday food for three weeks.

5. I would also bring lots of peanut and nut because they are healthy.

6. And I would bring some outs because it's a sometimes food.

7.  I would bring some cake so I have something yum to eat on the boat.

8. I would also some fruit so I can eat healthily and make fruit kebabs.

9. I would defiantly bring like five sandwiches because I really like them/

10. the last thing is some cookies because they are yum.

WALT Plan and make a pick a path story. This week we have been working on making a pick a path story. We all started with making a plan but our plan was the same so we would have around about similar stories. I really enjoyed this because when it's finished it ends up really cool because you get to choose where you want to go and do. What I found challenging was that everything was confusing because you had to link the slides.

Dick Frizzell's art

Today Ngahere is learning about Dick Frizzell. We are learning about him because he is a New Zealand artist and for Paroa schools Kiwiana Christmas parade. We are doing Dick Frizzell's pukeko in a ponga tree illustration. Then I had too choose my favourite artwork of him and paint it myself.
I enjoyed painting it because I was allowed to add lots of bright colour.
I found it challenging trying to figure out what painting I should choose and what colours to mix to make other colours.

Adventure stories

WALT write an adventure story. Today for writing we had to fill in a google drawing and say what makes a good adventure story, why people like to read them, what makes them adventurous, What adventure stories we know, and what good writers might do. I enjoyed this because it was just fun to write. What I found hard was trying to figure out what to write.

What did we do? so what we did was the teacher called a number and we had to move from Chromebook to Chromebook so the teacher said the number 6 we would move 6 Chromebooks along and write what they are good at and stuff like that and this what people wrote for me. What was challenging? the stuff that I found hard was getting facts for other people.

poem writing

Today we as a class are learning to write poems with onomatopoeia, onomatopoeia is the use of a word or words which sound like what they are describing. E.g. crash, buzz, smash, woof. And this is my poem I wrote,

Water drips from the roof of the house,
drip, drip, drip, drip
the water goes off the roof,
you can hear it here and even other there
you can hear it everywhere,
now the leaves are dropping from the trees.

Term 4 Reflection week 1

what I have leant on the first back was to ordering fractions because there were high numbers up to about the 100s. What I liked about this week was athletics because we got to do high jump, long jump shot put and discus. The one I most liked was high jump because I got up to 1 meter and I didn't fail. What I didn't like was reading because I didn't understand some of the sentences and it was a hard book. What I want to learn next week is some facts about space because I don't know that much.

Literacy

Today my reading group read a book called Broken Wing and we had to do a senses chart. We had to do stuff like what it tastes likes, what it looks like, what it sounds like, what it smells like and what it feels like I think that the hardest one was what it tastes like. what I liked about doing the smells like because you get to chose what it smells like. what I didn't like is look's like because you didn't know what it looks like so I had to make stuff up.

weekly reflection week 6

one thing that I learnt this week was how to garden. and one thing that I have found hard this week was reading because we had a really hard book. something that I have enjoyed this week was break time because we got to do whatever you wanted to do. one thing to work on next week if spelling because I. need to get better at spelling.

week 5 reflection

This week I learnt how to use a math book properly. This week what I found hard is te Reo Maori  because we had to learn to sing and know all the colours for a challenge the challenge was to pick a colour and make sure you know the colour in Maori or the teacher searched up if she didn't know and we go to the fence and look to see what colour and if the colour that you chose went pass you get a point and whoever gets the most points wins. One thing that was hard this week was te Reo Maori because it was challenging to remember all the colours. One thing I enjoyed was maths because we had a really hard sheet that we had to do and because we learnt a new way to do division. One thing I need to work on is spelling.

Double Entry Journal

In the text it says….
My connection….
He created handstands
I can do one it is hard
Crazy ideas
Jumped off the roof of

Doesn’t open the door
if someone is there
Want to play my ps4
Soccer

Sometimes I don’t remind
people
But I’m tired
I’m pretty tired sometimes
W.A.L.T make connections. For this week we have been reading a book called The duel why I like the book is because the story is of space and because of the old man that pretty much invented everything. Why I don't like the story is that the house looks scary.

math

W.A.L.T get more states on how to work out easier ways to work it out with bigger numbers like in the one thousand and to see what the easiest way to do it.

The great pacific garbage patch

The great pacific garbage patch

What the great pacific garbage patch is.

The great pacific garbage patch is a patch in the ocean filled with rubbish in the ocean.

How big is the great pacific garbage patch?

The great pacific garbage patch is three times bigger than France and one million and six hundred square kilometres in size up to sixteen times bigger than previous estimates. That makes it more than double the size of Texas.

Where is The great pacific garbage patch?

The great pacific garbage patch is between Hawaii and the mainland is in California.

70% of the ocean is filled with rubbish.

For the past week, we have been researching about the great pacific garbage patch. Why I liked doing about this the researching is finding the research and getting it off the piece of paper that we write it down on the Chromebook. What I didn't like about the research is writing it on the piece of paper.

using wevideo

Today we were learning how to use different camera angels and wevideo to help use for Film festival so we know how to use wevideo and different angels. Because no one knows how to use wevideo but we knew how to use screencastify. This is me doing my wevideo clip I'm the one that has the ball, Taj was the one that got the ball's after I shoot and Quaid and Clara were the ones that were recording me. What I liked about doing the practice Film festival was shooting and putting it together with the music. And what I didn't like about it was probably the end of the video.

making bees wraps

Today my class made bees wraps

I wonder sheet

W.A.L.T ask questions by finding them in the book. The story was about a girl that had to do a speech and she was scared to do the speech  What I liked about the I wonder sheet was probably writing the facts down and what I liked about the story was that it was a comic. What I don't like about the story is that it is a short comic that is page 9 to page 15 it would be better is it went from page 9 to page 20 because it has like about fifteen words a page.

Dear humans,

Please stop leaving your rubbish lying around because there are truckloads of plastic getting dumped into our ocean each minute!!

My little brother was sick because of all the rubbish lying around.
